Well patronised, this Nature-Based Tourist Park on 160 Acres, with Barron River Frontage also enjoys a National Park Boundary.

Old Mates Country represents far more than a rural property it's a rare Opportunity to acquire one of the Atherton Tablelands' most unique nature based tourism properties.

Operating as an established tourism business, it is one of the most unique private landholdings currently available in Tropical North Queensland. Located just minutes from Atherton and approximately 90 minutes from Cairns, this remarkable 160-acre* property combines over 900 metres of Barron River frontage, a permanent waterfall on Moran creek, Remnant rainforest, grazing country and wildlife habitats.

The western section of the property provides approximately 10 kilometres of established trails suitable for mountain biking, bushwalking and nature exploration with direct access to Herberton Range National Park and forms part of an important wildlife corridor supporting Lumholtz's Tree-kangaroos, platypus, gliders, wallabies and a diverse range of native birdlife. More than 1,000 native trees have been planted as part of an ongoing restoration program designed to strengthen habitat connectivity and contribute to long term landscape conservation outcomes.

For conservation-minded buyers, Old Mates Country sits within the critically endangered Mabi Forest ecosystem, one of Australia's rarest rainforest communities, with less than three per cent of its original extent remaining the property offers the rare opportunity to continue building upon an established environmental legacy while supporting sustainable public access through nature-based tourism.

The property also occupies part of the historic Wongabel military district where the 120th Australian Brigade Ordnance Field Park and Workshops operated during World War II. Remnants of this history remain today, including concrete slabs, brick fireplaces and other wartime features that provide opportunities for heritage educational experiences.

Combing river access, rainforest, wildlife viewing, camping, walking, mountain bike riding experiences and farm animal feeding the property offers exceptional opportunities for outdoor recreation, wellness retreats, environmental education and adventure tourism. The groundwork has been laid, offering immediate operational continuity alongside endless potential for future development.
